Thunder Season Review

The 2023/24 Evansville Thunder Travel Hockey season was a resounding success. We had 7 travel teams competing from 8U through High School Varsity. We want to thank the coaches, players, parents, volunteers, officials, and anyone else that helped make this season possible. We also want to thank Nick, Andrea, and the entire staff at Swonder Ice Arena. We have one of the best ice rinks in the Midwest!

Thank you to all 13 of our Seniors. These players were highlighted throughout the season in our Senior Spotlight posts. Hopefully, everyone was able to read about these amazing young adults. While our priorities at the EYHA are ensuring the players are having fun and developing as hockey players, there were many great achievements this year and we wanted to highlight a few of those below.

High School Purple-For the first time in Evansville Thunder history our Varsity team won the Hoosier League! They were also the 4A state runner up. They ended the season as the 5th ranked team in the state with a 38-6-1 record. They achieved many firsts for our hockey program and will go down as one of the greatest hockey teams in our history.

High School White-Coach Howard and his team had a very successful season this year which included a win in the state tournament. They developed and improved throughout the year. They finished the season as a top 10 JV team in the state of Indiana.

14U Purple-The 14U Purple team had a fantastic season this year which included an AA SYTHL regular season championship and an AA SYTHL Postseason Tournament Championship. They ended with a 36-20-2 record and hosted the National State Advancing Tournament.

14U White-Coach Cotton focused on player development for this year's 14U White team. This team continued to improve throughout the season and had some very big wins including winning the Triple B 14U Invitational.

12U-The 12U team had a great season in 2023/24. Their season included 3 tournament championships, a state runner up in the 12U Cardinal Division, and an invite to the AA SYTHL Postseason tournament.

10U-This team was one of the most improved teams throughout the state this season. They had big wins over tough competition including an upset win over a great Owensboro team at Rudolph's Revenge. They also made a great run through the 10U Hoosier division at the state tournament and ended as the state runner up.

8U-Our youngest Thunder team had a great season. These players are the future of our Thunder program. They hosted and participated in jamborees throughout the area. They had some big wins including going undefeated at the Owensboro and Bloomington jamborees.

Go Thunder!
